Bastrop State Park – Campground Review

Great campground 30 minutes from Austin, Texas.

This was our first campground we stayed at after picking up our RV and it was a great place to get started! Full hookups, nice bathroom facilities, views, and great hiking trails.

Cost $$ – $25 per night plus daily entrance fee (Entrance fee waived with Texas State Park Pass)

Campsite Quality & Amenities – 4/5

We were really surprised and definitely spoiled by the quality of this state park. We haven’t been to another state park that had such great facilities.

20180421_195249We stayed in loop x which had all paved, pull-through site, full hookup sites. Our site was not super level but the other sites looked more level than ours. Each site has a grass area with a picnic table and fire pit. All sites were well maintained and most of the sites on this loop had good views.

There was a nice playground area for children and a good turn around for any sized RV.

As far as state parks go, this one was very nice–nicer than some private RV parks that we have stayed at.

Location – 3/5

It’s not Yosemite but this is a great place to camp in Central Texas. Relatively close to Austin and in a nice scenic area. The Bastrop fires still have parts of the park burned but it is interesting to see the forest regrowing.

Noise – 5/5

We didn’t experience any rowdy neighbors or loud highway noise.

Summary – 4/5

This is a great place for a weekend getaway and I would suggest this to anyone asking for a spot in Central Texas.
